2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft – MFL 10s

Jimmy Graham, 2015 Fantasy Football Tight Ends Rankings

My good friends at MyFantasyLeague.com asked me to join a 2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft for writers they were starting up this week. The guys at MFL do a great job with mock drafts, publicizing them, and running them. Without question, it’s one of my favorite draft setups, partially because of the no-frills look.

Thinking you’d like to get into a mock draft? Start one up for free at MyFantasyLeague.com. You can even do a Draft-Only League for free, which is like a best-ball game of golf. Each week, after the games, your best possible lineup is determined. No more regretting that you started Brian Hartline over Roddy White, just “because of the matchups!” These mock draft leagues are fun to track throughout the season. You can even do one each month of the offseason if you want.

But for THIS 2012 Fantasy Football mock draft, we’re using these league settings:

  • 1 pt per reception (so this is a PPR league)
  • 4 pts for passing TDs
  • (-2) pts for interceptions
  • Three starting Wide Receivers
  • One Flex Position starter (RB, WR, TE)

Enjoy the mock draft! I’ll try to post some analysis on it over the next few days. It also goes along nicely with my own Two-Round Mock Draft from last week. Some of the writers in this draft are posting analysis on the draft page.

2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft –MFL 10s

ROUND ONE

1.01 Arian Foster, RB, Houston – Chet, TheFakeFootball.com

1.02 LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia – Stein, MyFantasyLeague.com

1.03 Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore – De Lima, 4For4.com: I’ve been vocal about taking Ray Rice No. 1 overall – yet my colleagues disagree. Heck, they even disagree about taking him second overall!

1.04  Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville – Andrew, StarStreet.com: Tough to argue against this pick, considering he is considered the next best tailback. But it’s a huge dropoff from 1.03 to 1.04. One Twitterer disagreed with the pick:

1.05  Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit – Corey, SiriusXM

1.06 Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay – Brian, FantasyTaz.com

1.07 Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego – William, FFOasis.com

1.08 Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee – Christian, TheFFAddict.com

1.09 Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seattle – Gonos, RotoExperts.com: This was my pick, and really, the only safe one left at this spot. I also had Lynch at No. 9 in my own Fantasy Football Two-Round Mock Draft. After CJ2K, it’s a big mish-mash of players that could all be the ninth-overall pick.

1.10  Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona – Bill, DynastySportsEmpire.com

1.11 Jimmy Graham, TE, New Orleans – Shane, DraftCountdown.com: No Gronk? I’ve been discussing recently how Rob Gronkowski shouldn’t be drafted in the first OR second round. But I didn’t think Graham would leapfrog him into the second round. Interesting pick.

1.12 Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland – Jeff, ProFootballFocus.com

ROUND TWO

2.01   Matt Forte, RB, Chicago – Jeff, ProFootballFocus.com

2.02 Tom Brady, QB, New England – Shane, DraftCountdown.com: Brady faces a VERY tough schedule against pass defenses this season, but I won’t argue much with this pick.

2.03 A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati – Bill, DynastySportsEmpire.com: I’d say this was the most shocking pick in the early going. Green is certainly talented, but taking him over Andre Johnson, Roddy White, Wes Welker and Greg Jennings? Not yet. Maybe next year, but the odds are against it. But, and this brings us to a great point, if you truly believe in someone, and you know he won’t be there by the time you pick again (which Green most likely would not have been), then go with your gut. Crazy draft picks are soon forgotten after a three-TD performance in Week 2. BUT – try to trade down. In this case, there were no trades, so he went with what he believed.

2.04 Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans – Gonos, RotoExperts.com: This was my second pick. He has a lot of craziness around him these days, but it’s tough to argue with what he has done over the past few years.

2.05 Trent Richardson, RB, Cleveland – Christian, TheFFAddict.com: I have the rookie running back out of Alabama as more of a third-round pick.

2.06 Wes Welker, WR, New England – William, FFOasis.com

2.07 DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas – Brian, FantasyTaz.com

2.08 Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City – Corey, SiriusXM

2.09 Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England – Andrew, StarStreet.com

2.10 Cam Newton, QB, Carolina – De Lima, 4For4.com

2.11 Andre Johnson, WR, Houston – Stein, MyFantasyLeague.com: Great value late in the second round.

2.12 Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans –  Chet, TheFakeFootball.com

Three players from my Two-Round Mock Draft have been bumped out of this mock draft: Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis; Greg Jennings, WR, Green Bay; Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit.
