Interrogate the Industry: Brandon Marianne Lee

It has felt like ages since my last Interrogate the Industry post. For that I apologize. I think due to the peak of the Fantasy Football season, the Holidays, illnesses things often get put on the back burner for everyone. I wasn’t ignoring the posts as much as not over concerning myself making sure folks responded, etc as I normally would. That being said, now that I am planning on bringing the series back in full force, especially for the Fantasy Baseball season, I wanted to come back strong. Why not snag one of the amazing sisters from the Her Fantasy Football podcast, and website herfantasyfootball.com? I had success, and not only that a kick ass response and I think built a friendly and future relationship with the ladies of this fantastic site/podcast. They are making waves in the industry and for good reason. They are women who really know their stuff. They research, they provide insight, they don’t rely on hunches, and most importantly, they actually interact with their followers. An extremely difficult and time-consuming task for anyone who continually develops a larger base of fans and followers. The Fantasy Football season may be over, but the questions are still fun and well answered. If anything it will give you a heads up onto a great follow and podcast for the next Fantasy Football season. Hope you enjoy the triumphant return, and continue to look forward to more great interrogation’s for the Fantasy Baseball season. Enjoy learning a tad more from one of the absolute best and sweetest in the industry! I also think we have plenty in common, besides Fantasy Sports. I hope most of you are basking in championship glory and winnings as you read this. Enjoy the Real NFL playoffs while I start getting lubed up for the MLB season to...

Discount Diving for FanDuel Week 16

Discount Diving for FanDuel Week 16

CHAMPIONSHIP has arrived and if you are in the championship congratulations and best of luck! If you are not however, like myself you will likely be looking to do some Discount Diving in DFS this week. I would normally apologize for the disastrous lineup I submitted and discount plays from last week, but I won’t this week. Last week was simply brutal from top to bottom. I was eliminated from 3 championship matches thanks to a quarterback nightmare, poor play from superstars Jamaal Charles, Calvin Johnson and….. well, I could go on and on but I won’t.  I know the saying “No one cares about YOUR team” and won’t push my readers to the limit. I will save that for Twitter. This week there are plenty of injuries, questionable to doubtful status players, and values to be found if you are willing to risk it before kickoff. With top-tier positional players like Demarco Murray, T.Y. Hilton, and Julio Jones listed as question marks, or playing at less than 100% you have some potential discount gold. With that I wish everyone luck in their seasonal and Daily contests today and let’s all cross fingers that this week is far better than last week. Discount Diving on FanDuel Quarterback: Alex Smith, Kansas City @ Pittsburgh Smith has been putting up decent numbers from the Quarterback position the last 4 weeks, even as a game manager. Don’t let the zero touchdown passes to Wide Receivers stat scare you. He uses his feet, tosses the ball to his Running Backs and big Tight End target Travis Kelce. Pittsburgh does not have a fantastic defense and allows 17+ points to opposing Quarterbacks all season.  Pricing in at $7,400 makes him a nice target on FanDuel if you are looking to save at the position this week. Projected FanDuel points: 17.3 Running Back: Joique Bell, Detroit @ Chicago Joique has a fantastic matchup against a bears team that is reeling, and a defense that allows second most rushing touchdowns in the league. At a price tag of $7,300 and an increased workload Bell should be able to pound the Bears this week and continue scoring double-digit Fantasy points. Projected FanDuel Points: 15.5 Wide Receiver: Donte Moncrief,...

Discount Diving for FanDuel Week 15

Let’s go Discount Diving for FanDuel once again. Sure,  it is the PLAYOFFS in seasonal formats everywhere but not on FanDuel. Every Week is new and important in daily fantasy sports and this week is no exception. Plenty of fantastic match-ups, surprise injuries, and even worse game time decisions that will make setting lineups extra tricky this week. That is why I am here, and hoping to help you find some cheap values while building a formidable cash winning lineup. I also need to apologize for life getting in the way last week which prevented me from writing up a post. I hope most of you also follow me on Twitter and saw my lineup posted on my feed. my discounted players of Isaiah Crowell, Joique Bell, Vikings DST, Charles Johnson and Kenny Britt allowed me to lock in Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton. This squad hauled in 145 points and cashed out in most leagues. Again, so sorry you missed my post, and hopefully this weeks is just as helpful. This week I am going to post two lineups. One with more risk, and one that is more safe. Each will have discount diving players in them, but you can determine which way you want to go if you happen to duplicate my exact lineups. Good luck everyone in Daily and Seasonal. I know I will need it. QuarterBack: Eli Manning, New York Giants vs Washington Eli has found a new best friend and thankfully he is light years more exciting than Larry Donnell. He has thrown 9 touchdowns over the past 5 weeks and over 240 yards as well. Odell Beckham Jr is coming on strong and becoming one of the best rookie receivers this season. Eli is intriguing at $7,500 this week, but you throw in they’re facing one of the worst secondaries in Washington this week. He will be in some of my lineups for sure. Projected FanDuel Points: 16.7 Running Back: Isaiah Crowell, Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Cincinnati has not been fantastic against the run this season, and they allow touchdowns to Running Backs this season. 15 to be exact, and since the Crow gets majority of the touches in the red-zone all signs point...

The Case for All-Play + Head to Head Leagues in Fantasy Football

The Case for All-Play + Head to Head Leagues in Fantasy Football

I can’t contain my excitement on sharing a Fantasy Football League setup known commonly as All-Play with you all.Even crazier? I have a league setup, I tried personally in my home league and it was a resounding success and fun for everyone. So, now is as good of a time as any to do it. The playoffs have begun and hopefully most of you are participating, already advancing or I suppose worse….you are looking back and wondering where it all went wrong. Perhaps your team had a destructive suspension like Adrian Peterson or Josh Gordon, or devastating injury early on which hurt your squads. Under performing players are also rampant this season, and for whatever reason players who at one point were locks for double-digit performances are not even coming close in 2014 (I am looking at you LeSean McCoy). Either way, if you aren’t riding the back of a few studs like DeMarco Murray, Antonio Brown or late Waiver Wire darling C.J. Anderson and sitting atop the heap, you are more than likely cursing your waiver wire, start/sit, and trade decisions. Everyone knows luck is a part of every game, and if you are like me, believe that Fantasy Football is largely dependent on it. There is Daily Fantasy Sports to ease the pain, but if you are like me it can’t replace seasonal leagues. The thrill of playing league-mates, and hopefully taking their money at the end of the season because of your efforts and Fantasy brilliance is hard to match anywhere. That’s why I am here now writing this. It is time for some of you to look forward to next year, and in fact consider making a few changes. It may not be for every one of course, and long-standing leagues have history and comforts with their league set-up that likely shouldn’t be tweaked. HOWEVER, if you are in a relatively young league, or one with plenty of turnover each season then you must consider switching to an All-Play + Head to Head league. There are plenty of fears, and hesitations to do it, but I will explain how to make it work, how it works, and why it is a great option. I will also address...

Week 13 Discount Diving on FanDuel and Rankings

The Week 13 Discount Diving post comes with plenty to look forward to. Thanksgiving feast, watching Football while devouring far too much food, monitoring your Fantasy Squads (of course) and their bids to make playoffs, or snag a Bye in the first round, and for some spending the quality time with your family. No matter what shape your seasonal teams are in, I hope they are in playoff contention, there is always the opportunity to enter some DFS lineups by Thursday. This week is even better since there are 3 games with plenty of big name studs you should target for your lineups. This week will be different because of the schedule, but also because signing up for Thursday start games on FanDuel may not be as “advantageous” as they normally are. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play obviously, there just may be stiffer competition starting tomorrow afternoon. Fear not, I will help you find some discount players who can add spark to your lineup while letting you afford the staple studs playing either Thursday or Sunday. A reminder to everyone reading, this isn’t intended to be a list of players you “Must Start” but a few targets at each position where you can save some money and get decent production. I typically aim to have two to three discount targets in my lineups. It can be more, or less. That is up to you! Since it is the Holiday’s and I have baking, bedtime, writing, lineups to set, etc I will cut this a tad short. I am sure you all understand, and may be overjoyed you don’t have to suffer through my ramblings this week and get right to the juicy part. I hope not, but I don’t blame you 😉 Good Luck this week everyone!! Discount Diving on FanDuel: Week 13  Quarterback: Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh vs New Orleans Post bye week and the Steelers face off against the high-octane offense of the Saints. This is good for the Steelers as they will likely need to throw plenty and often to win the game. With plenty of weapons at his disposal, Roethlisberger is a solid choice for his dollar value this week. I have him as my 4th...

Week 11 Discount Diving on FanDuel and Rankings

Last week by in large was a successful week for Discount Diving. Although the lineup I posted only won in one contest, I did do well in all of my other contests, using many of the same discount players. The big hitters were Justin Forsett, Roddy White, and Jason Witten performing as I projected. Jeremy Hill had a forgettable performance on Thursday night netting only 4.6 points. Also, if you happened to discount your Quarterback position with Matt Ryan as I did in several leagues you were underwhelmed again with a 15.6 point performance. Serves as a reminder that I am not suggesting playing every single Discount player each week, nor am I encouraging duplicating my rosters. You certainly can, but know that I typically enter multiple lineups each week, and show the lineup with the most discounts/stars I use each week. Week 9 it was great, Week 10 not terrible, but not necessarily a winner. However my winning lineup contained three of my value plays. That is the point, to help target a few cheaper players and build around them. If you want to copy my lineups, go for it. Just know that isn’t the entire point. Week 11 we have a few more big hitters missing with DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant, and Tony Romo. Jacksonville and the New York Jets are also on bye…….but, it is the Jaguars and Jets. A game myself, and most others will be following close is the Patriots vs Colts. This game smells like a shootout to me in every way possible, so I will be targeting some guys from this game for sure. Also, be sure to check out my overall Week 11 Rankings below too which can help (possibly) with some of your tough start or sit questions this week. As always I am also available on twitter @fantsychillpony and will respond to all questions promptly. Also, once again if you haven’t tried SKYLLZONE yet for a different Daily Fantasy experience you still can. Draft quickly, snake draft style, and against 9 computers. Oh yeah, I can’t forget, it is completely free. You have a chance to win money each and every week, or SKYLL points too. If you like getting pointers for that...

In MEGA We Trust: There’s Little Time Left To Buy Calvin Johnson

If I would have said at the beginning of the 2014 Fantasy Football season I would feel the need to write a post encouraging owners to try to trade for Calvin Johnson I would have been given a “Well, DUH!” look. Well, here we are approaching Week 10 and Calvin Johnson has missed time and had a few duds prior to injury. I do think this is a relatively obvious claim and recommendation here, and I by no means think I am breaking ground here. However, I am also surprised at the hesitation and lack of trust from fellow fantasy owners in my own leagues all the way up to the Fantasy Industry in general. I have heard all of these statements at some point over the last few weeks and as recently as this week such as “Calvin is getting old he won’t recover quickly”, “I don’t trust his ankle”, “Is he actually going to be 100%”, “Why would you trade away a few consistent guys for a high risk/high reward player like Calvin Johnson?”,” He is getting up there in age now, not worth it anymore”. I hope to answer that today, and give you my reasoning on gobbling him up while there still be smidgen of doubt in the Calvin Johnson owners mind. ESPECIALLY if they are close, or barely in the playoffs and could use a boost. Some would argue the time to buy him was a few weeks ago, and they are right. I made a trade to get him three Weeks ago now, and after the long, and somewhat painful wait I should reap the rewards this week (tough matchup or not), in the playoffs, and hopefully championship. The team I traded with was just over .500 at the time, and losing Calvin was really hurting his receiver position. I made him an offer I assumed he couldn’t refuse (Lamar Miller, Keenan Allen and Roddy White), and at the time was heavily in his favor. It still could be, but I knew I could survive the three weeks without Johnson, and now I have him to look forward to the rest of the way. Well, hopefully. So, if you are a doubter, and...
