The Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks meet at 1PM Eastern Time on NBC TV. Weather could be a factor in this one as the temperature could be hovering at zero. It is worth noting that there is no wind or snow in the forecast. This isn’t the 70’s or 80’s anymore.

Wide receivers all wear gloves and the field is heated underneath the turf. The teams met back on December 6th with the Seahawks dominating in victory by the score of 38-7. They jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead. The story in this game was the inability of Minnesota to move the football on the Seahawks defense.

This is a bad matchup for the Vikings. The Seahawks have the quality in their secondary to play man to man and stack the line and deny yardage to Adrian Peterson. Don’t expect the game plan to change much because the thinking here is that Teddy Bridgewater is flawed when his run game isn’t working and he is forced to thread the needle with his passes.

Seattle limited Minnesota to just 31 yards rushing and 118 through the air. Adrian Peterson has a bad back and will give it a go in this game. The Seahawks finished the regular season with the number one rushing and scoring defense and were number two against the pass.

Seahawks will burn clock with a conservative approach on offense. No need to take chances when you have the defense to limit scoring chances for the opponent here. Fewer possessions will lead to fewer yards and points for the Vikings.

Teddy Bridgewater will be a desperate quarterback as this game could get away from Minnesota. Bridgewater will have to test the Seahawks secondary and will get picked off by the veterans. Earl Thomas has five picks this season.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is coming off a successful regular season. He completed a career high 68.1% of his passes for 4024 yards with 34 touchdowns and 8 picks. Completion percentage, yardage and touchdown throws were all highs in his four years in the pros.

In the playoffs, look for Wilson to take more chances in the run game. He rushed for 553 yards on 103 carries this year for 5.4 yards per carry average.

The nightcap features the Washington Redskins at home to battle the Green Bay Packers at 4:40PM Eastern Time on FOX. The Packers won one more game this regular season than the Redskins.

The concern for Green Bay has been the play of their offense in recent games. They faced two playoff teams in their final two games of the season and were held to 9 points at Arizona and 13 last week at home to Minnesota

Washington was the surprise winner of the NFC East this year with a record of 9-7. They were 6-2 overall at home. The point production for Washington has peaked down the stretch as the club has pushed across 34 points or greater in their final three games of the season all resulting in victories.

The Redskins have been moving the football. Green Bay’s defense is good in the red zone. Washington has a good kicker in Dustin Hopkins who went 25 of 28 in the season. There is a possibility that Hopkins could be successful with at least three field goal tries in this game.

The kicker in the Wildcard round you should take for your daily leagues will be Dustin Hopkins.

Play Dustin Hopkins, Washington Redskins K
