Week 11 RB Rankings — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE – Looking Ahead to the Fantasy Playoffs

The Fantasy playoffs are less than one month away – can you believe it? These Week 11 RB Rankings will hopefully get you one step closer to getting into those playoffs. And once you get into the playoffs – well, anything can happen! But if you’re already kicking butt and you’re ready to look ahead to the Fantasy playoffs, then we’ll help you with that, too. One of the best ways to do that is to take a quick look to see which running backs might have the most favorable schedules during Weeks 14-16. There could be some sleepers that might be worth picking up now, or maybe trading for them if your deadline isn’t here yet, so you can get ahead of the curve. I’ll be using FFToolbox.com’s Strength of Schedule for Weeks 14-16. 4 Sleeper Running Backs for Fantasy Playoffs Chris Johnson, N.Y. Jets – at MIN, at TEN, vs. NE: He’s getting more touches and he’ll be going up against three defenses that currently rank among the worst against running backs, allowing over 20 Fantasy points per game...

Week 11 DST Rankings – Looking Ahead to the Fantasy Playoffs — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

Six defenses are coming off byes – and that makes 12 defenses coming off byes over the past two weeks. The Week 11 DST rankings are quite mixed. What I mean by that is there are several good defenses dropping out of the top 10 because of matchups, and likewise, there are some mediocre defenses moving into the top 10. But this week, rather than just give you the rankings for this week, I thought it would be smart to give you a deeper look at the position going forward. With so many players coming off bye weeks, you can afford to dump your backup quarterback if you own players like Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers. Or you can dump that backup tight end or fifth wide receiver you’ll never use. Then you can fill that roster spot with one of these DSTs with favorable matchups during the Fantasy playoffs! I’ll be using FFToolbox.com’s Strength of Schedule for Weeks 14-16. 2 Best Defenses for Fantasy Playoffs Tennessee Titans– vs. NYG, vs. NYJ, at JAC: Facing the Jets and Jaguars in the last two weeks of Fantasy Football makes this Titans defense the best one to own in the postseason. They’re not much in the forced turnovers department, but the Titans are tied for the seventh-most sacks per game in the NFL. N.Y. Giants – at TEN, vs. WAS, at STL: While the Giants defense doesn’t look too attractive, this schedule puts them up against three of the 10 worst offenses in the NFL. The Rams, Titans and Redskins all allow over 10.22 Fantasy points per game to opposing defense/special teams. 2 Sleeper Defenses for Fantasy Playoffs Washington Redskins – vs. STL, at NYG, vs. PHI: The Eagles are a tough offense to face in Week 16, but the Rams allow the most Fantasy points to opposing DSTs this season (16.22). New Orleans Saints – vs. CAR, at CHI, vs. ATL: The Panthers and Bears are certainly having some offensive issues lately, and the Falcons have given up 12 sacks in the past four games. 2 Defenses with Bad Fantasy Playoffs Matchups Cincinnati Bengals – vs. PIT, at CLE, vs. DEN: Facing Big Ben and Peyton Manning in...

Week 11 QB Rankings – Looking Ahead to the Playoffs — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

Week 11 QB Rankings – Looking Ahead to the Playoffs — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

Over the past two weeks, 12 teams have gone on bye weeks, which means you’ve had 12 fewer quarterbacks to choose from for your starting lineup. While there are still four more teams going on a bye in Week 11, the Week 11 QB rankings look better stocked than they have in a while. And that’s including the fact that Carson Palmer is done for the season with a torn ACL! Drew Stanton takes over for him in the desert, and he inherits an excellent passing offense with a stellar pass-catching running back, and three very good wide receivers in Larry Fitzgerald, rookie John Brown and Michael Floyd (although, the latter can be debated if he’s that good this season). I find it really interesting that there are 23 quarterbacks that are owned in over 50 percent of CBSSports.com Fantasy leagues. Figure a couple percent of those are for 2-QB leagues, and some are for keeper leagues (like Palmer’s owners and Nick Foles’ owners). But I thought it would be interesting to take this week to start looking ahead to the Fantasy Football playoffs, to find gems that are set up for great matchups in Weeks 14-16. I’ll be doing this for each position this week, so keep coming back! I’ll be using FFToolbox.com’s Strength of Schedule for Weeks 14-16. 2 Best Quarterbacks for Fantasy Playoffs Drew Brees, New Orleans – With home games against the Panthers and Falcons, and a road game against a Bears defense that just gave up six touchdown passes to Aaron Rodgers, Brees is the best QB option for the Fantasy playoffs. Tony Romo, Dallas – No player has a better schedule during this stretch, although, we have to wonder if his back problems will allow him to play. 2 Sleeper Quarterbacks for Fantasy Playoffs Eli Manning, N.Y. Giants – While he hasn’t been amazing this season, his luck has changed in the interception department, and he has just one pick in his past five games. He’ll face the Titans (eighth against QBs), Redskins (30th) and Rams (23rd) in Weeks 14-16. Kyle Orton, Buffalo – He’ll need Sammy Watkins (groin) to be healthy by then, but Orton has averaged 18 Fantasy points in the...

In MEGA We Trust: There’s Little Time Left To Buy Calvin Johnson

In MEGA We Trust: There’s Little Time Left To Buy Calvin Johnson

If I would have said at the beginning of the 2014 Fantasy Football season I would feel the need to write a post encouraging owners to try to trade for Calvin Johnson I would have been given a “Well, DUH!” look. Well, here we are approaching Week 10 and Calvin Johnson has missed time and had a few duds prior to injury. I do think this is a relatively obvious claim and recommendation here, and I by no means think I am breaking ground here. However, I am also surprised at the hesitation and lack of trust from fellow fantasy owners in my own leagues all the way up to the Fantasy Industry in general. I have heard all of these statements at some point over the last few weeks and as recently as this week such as “Calvin is getting old he won’t recover quickly”, “I don’t trust his ankle”, “Is he actually going to be 100%”, “Why would you trade away a few consistent guys for a high risk/high reward player like Calvin Johnson?”,” He is getting up there in age now, not worth it anymore”. I hope to answer that today, and give you my reasoning on gobbling him up while there still be smidgen of doubt in the Calvin Johnson owners mind. ESPECIALLY if they are close, or barely in the playoffs and could use a boost. Some would argue the time to buy him was a few weeks ago, and they are right. I made a trade to get him three Weeks ago now, and after the long, and somewhat painful wait I should reap the rewards this week (tough matchup or not), in the playoffs, and hopefully championship. The team I traded with was just over .500 at the time, and losing Calvin was really hurting his receiver position. I made him an offer I assumed he couldn’t refuse (Lamar Miller, Keenan Allen and Roddy White), and at the time was heavily in his favor. It still could be, but I knew I could survive the three weeks without Johnson, and now I have him to look forward to the rest of the way. Well, hopefully. So, if you are a doubter, and...

Week 10 Discount Diving for FanDuel and Rankings

Week 10 Discount Diving for FanDuel and Rankings

It certainly felt great to get back in the win column on FanDuel in a big way last week after a successful sample lineup, and discount diving post. Hitting on Ryan Tannehill, Jeremy Hill, and getting a decent performance from Rueben Randle helped lead three entries with this lineup to payout and scoring 131 points. Once again, I stress I don’t write this as much for Tournament entires, although I am sure you could use it, but more for the 50/50 contests. Last week I submitted more than three lineups for the first time this season with relative success. I will try the same this week, but post my favorite lineup for you to observe or try out if you like. I wish everyone luck this week, especially with the bye week and be sure to check out my Rankings as well posted below. They WILL be getting updated throughout the week, so not final, they are close. Quarterback: Matt Ryan, Atlanta at Tampa Bay Last week we nailed it with Tannehill so let’s go for a repeat shall we? Tampa Bay has given up the 5th most Fantasy points in the NFL this season. Ryan is rested, and his two star receivers should be primed and ready to shred this porous secondary. At the cost of $7,800 you can’t go wrong in snagging my 5th ranked QB this week. Projected FanDuel Points: 19 points   NOTE: Thursday Night Match  Running Back: Jeremy Hill, Cincinnati vs Cleveland  Hill is a repeat offender this week appearing in my Discount Diving column. Although he isn’t as cheap as last week, he is still “Affordable” and should have no real issues producing tonight against Cleveland’s defense. They are ranked 30th against the run and he will get the bulk of the carries once again this week. For $6,900 and his projected output sneak him in your lineups tonight!! If you can…Projected FanDuel Points: 15.7 In case you missed Thursday Night Running Back: Justin Forsett, Baltimore vs Tennessee Forsett has managed to produce even with minimal carries. This week he faces a defense that is ranked 27th against the run. Baltimore should have possesion time advantage, and that means Forsett should get enough touches...

Week 10 Kicker Rankings — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

You’re interested in the Week 10 Kicker rankings, you say? Let me help you out there, with a look at the best kickers in a six-team bye week. With Stephen Gostkowski sitting on a couch this week, along with Adam Vinatieri and Nick Novak, there will be plenty of people scrambling for a good kicker. Every week, I do these rankings for each position, and I prefer to write some interesting fodder for each article, rather than just post the breakdown of my rankings. With most positions, I can kind of dig a little deeper and offer up some food for thought about the position. For instance, with the Week 10 RB Rankings, I take a look back to the summer, when the Zero-RB Theory was all the rage, and I discuss how your middle-round running backs are likely killing your team, even if you picked up Demaryius Thomas and Vincent Jackson early on. Then, for the Week 10 WR Rankings, I looked back at the young players at the position, and what promise they hold for the second half of the season. But it’s tough to do that every week for kicker rankings. So, instead, we’ll share with you the best/worst defenses for your kickers to face each week! 5 Best Defenses For Fantasy Kickers to Face These stats are taken from the Defenses vs. Position tool at CBSSports.com. Bears: Allowing 9.75 Fantasy pts per game to Kickers Jaguars: 9.67 FPPG Buccaneers: 9.38 FPPG Raiders: 9.12 FPPG Titans: 9.00 FPPG 5 Worst Defenses For Fantasy Kickers to Face Chargers: Allowing 5.33 Fantasy pts per game to Kickers Lions: 5.50 FPPG Cowboys: 5.67 FPPG 49ers: 5.75 FPPG Colts: 5.89 FPPG These Week 10 Kicker rankings are helpful for Daily Fantasy play, as well. Especially for the Fan vs. Machine instant snake drafts on SKYLLZONE.com. Download the free draft app on iTunes, or just draft off your computer. You draft against nine computers – and everyone gets one free draft per day. You can win SKYLL Points that you can use for entry into the Cash games – where you can win $15 for first place, and $5 for second place. Week 10 Rankings: QB | RB | WR |...

Week 10 WR Rankings — A Deeper Look Into Young Wide Receivers

Week 10 WR Rankings — A Deeper Look Into Young Wide Receivers

Before we dive into the Week 10 WR rankings, let’s talk about some young players that we could see on the rise in coming weeks. We’re officially into the second half of the season, which means it’s time to start seeing some production out of rookies that struggled early on to the speed of the NFL game, to learning the playbook or because they were pinned behind veterans on the depth chart. Harken back to last season when we saw Cordarrelle Patterson come on late in the season – only to become a major disappointment this year. But the point to remember here is that something clicked for him in the second half, and we’re going to try to set you up for success going forward here, with some young guys we think might have something click, also! Young WRs Ready for a Good 2nd Half I’m going to limit these players to just first- or second-year players, and we’re going to look at them for the remainder of the season, even though most Fantasy Football owners don’t play in Week 17. Most Fantasy owners should be thinking about the next four weeks, as they try to get into the Fantasy playoffs, but it’s never a bad idea to look ahead into the playoff weeks either. Let’s look at some numbers to know for the past four weeks that might help us in the next four weeks – or so. 13.00 – “Yards at the Catch” for Kenny Stills this season, which is a stat that measures how far downfield a receiver is by the time the ball gets to him. He’s a great deep threat for Drew Brees, and only six other wide receivers with more than 20 catches have a better Yards at the Catch number than Stills. 48.60 – Fantasy points scored by rookie Sammy Watkins over the past four weeks – in just three games. His 12.15 Fantasy points per game rank him sixth among wide receivers in that span, behind wideouts T.Y. Hilton, Antonio Brown, Demaryius Thomas, Jeremy Maclin and Randall Cobb. 4 – Targets in the red zone to rookie Martavis Bryant over the past two games, which is more than any other...
