Week 3 Waiver Wire Adds

a.smith.dg

Two deep and it has been everything you’ve waited for since last December when your league’s championship was won right?

Remember it isn’t time to give up on some top options. Steven Ridley will turn it around and Roddy White will get going eventually. Cam Newton started slow last season and was the best QB in the 2nd half of the season a year ago.

Alternatively, if you’re holding onto Ronnie Hillman you very well may be wasting a roster spot.

There were a fury of injuries this week, so, here are your top Week 3 Waiver Wire Adds.

Week 3 Waiver Wire Adds

QB Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs

Smith has looked like his responsible and reliable self through 2 games, which doesn’t always win Fantasy titles, but he has 4 scores through the air and the Chiefs are 2-0. Don’t over look Smith as an option, he even looked especially good on the ground this past Sunday.
Don’t forget either, Smith had the most favorable schedule in terms of Fantasy and has the Eagles on tap in Week 3. He makes for a great plug and play candidate this weekend against the porous Eagles pass defense.

RB Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos

The Broncos’ backfield is losing some of its unpredictability, as Ronnie Hillman looks to be the third option with Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball leading the way. Moreno looked especially impressive against the Giants rushing for 93 yards on 13 carries with 2 scores.
There is a chance that Ball slowly eats into Moreno’s touches and targets, but John Fox and Peyton Manning trust the veteran and it isn’t like he wasn’t reliable down the stretch last season.

RB James Starks, Green Bay Packers

Monitor Eddie Lacy’s health first and remember that James Starks’ big game Sunday was against a horrible Washington Defense. After taking both into account you can add Starks, but you shouldn’t expect a lot from him.
On deck is a tough Bengals defense and then the Packers have their bye week, so he isn’t a viable option for the next 2 weeks. That can seem like a lifetime in Fantasy Football.

RB Bernard Pierce, Baltimore Ravens

It was surprising to see how readily available Pierce was on the Waiver Wire. Unless you’re playing in a three person league with your mother and aunt he should be owned in all formats.
Ray Rice’s status isn’t clear yet, but Pierce is capable and figures to be more involved in the Ravens’ rushing attack even if Rice plays. At worst for Pierce’s stock this could become a timeshare for awhile and if it works it might stay that way, which is really great for Pierce.

WR Eddie Royal, San Diego

If you’re fortunate enough to add him, put him on the trading block and see if you can’t turn an immediate profit. It is a remarkable story and rejuvenation of a once promising player. But will it last?
My thought is that Royal has beat up on a Houston team that forgot that you have to actually play the game to win and a horrible Eagles pass defense. It wont be that easy for Royal going forward, especially after his hot start.

WR DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans

When I read about Andre Johnson saying DeAndre Hopkins can be better than him, I like it. The Texans have leaned towards the ground game in recent years, but there was a time when Mr. Matthew Schaub aired it out with the best of them.
Hopkins had a huge Week 2 and stands to be a special player. Johnson’s health is in question, but make no mistake, Hopkins will be involved and targeted going forward regardless. This is shaping up to be a special offense with his addition.

WR Marlon Brown, Baltimore Ravens

Leaving him here for a second week, he is a big target, who is quick off the line. Both of his Touchdowns have come from inside the 20 and if he can maintain that role it would result in a lot of Fantasy potential.
Brown isn’t your stereotypical Undrafted Free Agent, he was one of the most coveted High School players in the country and was hindered by injuries in College. There is legit talent here and a great opportunity, which is the recipe for Fantasy success.

TE Coby Fleener, Indianapolis Colts

Dwayne Allen couldn’t go Sunday and Coby Fleener took advantage. Andrew Luck found Fleener, his old College buddy, early and often Sunday and most importantly for 6.
Fleener’s value could suffer when Allen’s health gets better, but there are lots of targets to go around in Indianapolis. Luck’s familiarity and confidence in Fleener shouldn’t be underestimated.

DST Buffalo Bills

The Bills head into New York to play their AFC East rival Jets in Week 3. The Bills have been one of the better Fantasy Defenses through the first 2 weeks and get rookie Geno Smith and an underwhelming Jets offense.
It might not lead to bundles of Fantasy Points, but a few sacks and a modest point total for the Jets isn’t going to lose a matchup either. There aren’t a lot of great streaming options this week.

IDP Waiver Wire – Rapid Fire

DL Donatari Poe, Kansas City Chiefs: Another big week, but still vastly under-owned.

DL Chandler Jones, New England Patriots: 2 sacks and 11 total tackles through 2 weeks.

DL Kyle Williams, Buffalo Bills: 12 total tackles and a sack should bump up his ownership.

DL/LB Trent Cole, Philadelphia Eagles: His position eligibility should have him on more rosters.

LB Mason Foster, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Filling up the stat sheet and off to a great start.

LB Ryan Kerrigan, Washington Redskins: 13 total tackles and 3 sacks in a smooth transition to Washington.

LB Alec Ogletree, St. Louis Rams: Up to 16 solo tackles on the season and is under-owned.

DB Jamarca Sanford, Minnesota Vikings: The Strong Safety is up to 17 total tackles on the year.

DB Brandon Flowers, Kansas City Chiefs: He is recording tackles and gets the Eagles in Week 3.

DB Bacarri Rambo, Washington Redskins: The Rookie has 18 total tackles and a sack.

Are there players that were left off of the Week 3 Waiver Wire Adds list? Who are you targeting?
