Fantasy Fatcast: 2014 Mock Draft 1st Round

2014 Mock Draft

The fellas take a step back to look two steps forward, as they break down what they think the first round of a 2014 Mock Draft would look like.

In this podcast, Bleacher Report’s Eric Mack, SI.com’s David Gonos and host Brett Tresky take turns making picks for a faux first round mock in Fantasy Football.

They also take a look at a new game at DraftDay.com, called, “QB Start ’em, Sit ’em,” in which there are 10 different player matchups between two different quarterbacks. You pick who you think will do better out of each of those matchups, and then your total score is added up for your score.

That’s what makes it different than Draft Day Rapid Fire, actually. In that game, they don’t add the scores up – just the number of correct picks.

2014 Mock Draft First Round

Of course, there were plenty of running backs taken in the first round of our 2014 Mock Draft, but at the end of the draft, there were a handful of surprising picks, including some wide receivers.

1.01  Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City

Gonos made the first pick, going with the best fantasy player so far this season. In 9 games, Charles has already matched his career high with eight total TDs. His 47 catches this season are a career high, as well. He likey Andy Reid!

1.02  Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota

Not a huge shocker at the top of the draft, as Tresky takes A.P. with the second pick. He’ll turn 29 next spring, and he has started 24 straight games since coming back from the knee injury. If the Vikings can figure things out at quarterback, they have decent receiving weapons to take some attention away from the running game defensively.

1.03 LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia

Emack took McCoy, who had an ADP of 1.10 just a few months ago in the preseason on MyFantasyLeague.com. He leads the NFL in rushing, and will still only be 26 years old in his second year in this offense. He’s on pace for career highs in rushing yards and total yards.

Give the Fantasy Fatcast a listen as we break down the rest of our 2014 mock draft. We also plan on doing a second-round preview in next week’s Fantasy Fatcast. In this week’s, we also break down the Week 10 matchups.
