Joining FanDuel.com: Gonos and Emack Together Again! … Oh, No.

In case you haven’t heard, we announced Monday that myself and Eric Mack, who I worked with at CBSSports.com and at SI.com, have joined the content staff at FanDuel.com.

We’re not the only ones, of course, as my friend Joe Pisapia, of the FantasyBlackBook.com will also be joining the team. And this team is headed up by Will Carroll, one of the most respected names in the Fantasy Baseball industry.

While it goes without saying that I’m excited to join this staff, which also includes people like Matt HEvia and Brandon Schottey, who were already with the Insider content crew, and Brandon Marianne Lee. You might know her and her sisters from HerFantasyFootball.com. I met Brandon in March at a Tout Wars event – and she’s awesome.

What Does Joining FanDuel.com Mean to Me?

I was talking with someone over the weekend about how when I joined CBSSports.com back in 2003, they were the leader in Fantasy Sports online. Like, it wasn’t even a contest between them and ESPN.

Yahoo! actually caught up quickly, but they were a free Fantasy site, whereas the REAL Fantasy players chose to spend their money at CBSSports.com, so it was prestigious to be joining that company.

The writing staff at CBSSports.com when I joined consisted of Scott Engel (now at ESPN), Tristan Cockcroft (ESPN), Michael Fabiano (NFL.com) and Daniel Dobish (RotoExperts.com). That’s three future Fantasy Hall of Famers, and Dobish has already won several FSWA awards for his Fantasy coverage. That’s a stellar team!

Then, after a few of them left, Eric Mack left the newsroom to join the content staff, along with Dave Richard and Sergio Gonzalez, and Jamey Eisenberg came a couple years later, with Michael Hurcomb.

Joining FanDuel’s content staff reminds me of when I joined CBS because FanDuel.com is the leader in Daily Fantasy Sports, and they have been since the company launched in 2009. I’m very excited to see this company and the hobby itself grow every single day – and I’m absolutely ecstatic to be a part of it.
