Week 1 Kicker Rankings — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

Listen, I know you’ve been waiting on the Week 1 Kicker rankings, and I promise I hurried as fast as possible.

Nothing’s going to kill a Fantasy Football opener more than stinking it up at the kicker position. OK, so maybe I’m overplaying it a bit. But in all seriousness, there has been a lot of Fantasy news at this position that you might not have seen since you had your draft.

There have been big cuts by some teams, and some new signings by other teams. Some veterans that were definitely drafted in Fantasy play are still looking for work. And I can’t remember entering a season with as many kickers that we didn’t even know about last year.

Heck, there’s even a major suspension to talk about – with one of the top kickers in Fantasy Football last season!

Week 1 Kicker News!

The following kickers lost their kicking jobs to the following new kickers!

  • Arizona’s Jay Feely got cut, giving the job to Chandler Catanzaro.
  • Tampa Bay’s Connor Barth was released, giving Patrick Murray the starting gig.
  • Kansas City let veteran Ryan Succop go, choosing to go with Cairo Santos.
  • Tennessee cut Maikon Bonani, then they cut Travis Coons, once they signed Succop. He faces his former team in Week 1!
  • Finally, Philadelphia cut veteran Alex Henery, going with Cody Parkey instead.

Matt Prater was suspended for four games (it was reportedly going to be a year-long suspension before his attorney got it reduced) for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. That means Brandon McManus gets the call for the first few weeks in Denver, which scores a boat-load of points. Prater set the NFL record for extra points last season, so McManus better stretch that leg good!
