Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

imgres

It’s that time of the week again! The time has to come to move on from the waiver wire and prepare for Week 10, a crucial week in fantasy football. It is also basically the last week with multiple teams on bye-weeks (Thank God).

Luckily, there weren’t many injuries last week but there were many star performances. Hopefully, those star performances came to the benefit of your fantasy team, and helped you pick up a victory last week.

If not, hopefully your luck will turn this week, and I’ll do my best to prepare you for that to happen.

Unfortunately, if you’re like me, you’re plagued with bye-week amnesia or injuries and are in a tough position; you should pay attention. My advice isn’t perfect, but I do my best. Here we go.

Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

Start Of The Week: Jeremy Maclin vs. Carolina

Projected Fantasy Points: 18

Maclin has been tearing it up lately, as he had at least 27 fantasy points the last two weeks. And he’s a receiver. Don’t be frightened that Mark Sanchez is now quarterbacking the Eagles, as Sanchez played good last week, and Maclin still accumulated 4 catches for 88 yards and a TD while Sanchez was under center last week. This week presents another great matchup for Maclin; the Panthers have allowed the 26th most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season. Under no circumstances, are you sitting Maclin this week.

Bust Alert Of The Week: Mark Ingram vs. San Francisco

Projected Fantasy Points: 7

Ingram was brilliant last week, for the second straight week going over 20 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. However, his last two matchups were very favorable against the weak run defenses of the Panthers and the Packers. Also, in both of those games the Saints have been leading, and Ingram saw a total of 54 carries between those two games. All that may not happen against the 49ers, which could be leading in this game. That would make the Saints go back to their pass-first offense, and take Ingram out of the game, as Travaris Cadet is used in passing downs. Also, the matchup isn’t favorable, as the ‘9ers have allowed the 4th least fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. If you could afford to, I’d not only sit Ingram this week, but I’d try to sell high on him in trades.

Quarterbacks Start ‘Em: Ben Roethlisberger at N.Y. Jets

Projected Fantasy Points: 28

Big Ben is simply on fire. Ben tossed a crazy 6 TDs in EACH of his last two games. That’s crazy. And I should mention that his matchup wasn’t too favorable last week against the Ravens. He had 47 fantasy points last week, and 56 the week before. That’s wild. Believe it or not, it gets even better for Ben matchup wise this week, as the Jets have allowed an average of 25.2 fantasy PPG to opposing quarterbacks this season, ranking last in the NFL. There’s not much to it, Roethlisberger should be started in all leagues, unless you have Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning.

Quarterbacks Sit ‘Em: Alex Smith at Buffalo

Projected Fantasy Points: 17

Week 10 RB Rankings, SKYLLZONE Fan vs. Machine Points GameSmith had his opportunity to shine last week, but he failed, putting up a mediocre performance against the worst pass defense in the NFL. This week he gets the Bills, which have allowed the 5th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. The matchup isn’t there, but frankly no matter what the matchup has been, Smith hasn’t produced. You should sit Smith this week, but it’s also safe to cut him.

Running Backs Start ‘Em: Justin Forsett vs. Tennessee

Projected Fantasy Points: 15

Forsett continues to be a solid option in fantasy, always producing solid numbers. Each week, you’re seeing descent numbers from Forsett, but this could be the week he goes crazy. Forsett not only sees a good number of carries, but also catches a lot of balls out of the backfield. He doesn’t see goal-line carries, but against the Titans, which have allowed the 26th most fantasy points to opposing running backs, he could definitely break one for a TD. Even if he doesn’t, I expect Forsett to definitely go over 100 rushing yards on Sunday. I’m starting Forsett on Sunday, in mostly all leagues.

Running Backs Start ‘Em: Denard Robinson vs. Dallas (In London)

Projected Fantasy Points: 13

Robinson has been perfect example of a golden pickup off of the waiver wire. Since taking over the starting running back job in Jacksonville, Robinson has had double-digit fantasy points in every game. He not only gets 15+ carries every game, but is also a big factor in the passing game. His matchup this week, against the Cowboys, is not favorable on paper; however, the Cowboys’ defense allowed Andre Ellington to have a good game last week. Robinson has become the “man” in the Jaguars’ offense, and should be started this Sunday.

Running Backs Sit ‘Em: Lamar Miller at Detroit

Projected Fantasy Points: 7

Miller injured his shoulder last week against the Chargers, and although he’s expected to play this week, he could be at less than 100%. Not to mention, Miller has an unfavorable matchup on Sunday against the Lions, which have allowed the 10th least fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. These factors combined, are the reasons I’m not playing Miller this week.

Wide Receivers Start ‘Em: Kelvin Benjamin at Philadelphia

Projected Fantasy Points: 15

Benjamin has made fantasy owners disappointed over the last couple of weeks, as he hasn’t reached double-digit fantasy points, and last week he put up a dud, catching just 2 balls for 18 yards. Don’t expect those struggles to continue, as Benjamin keeps on developing into a star receiver in fantasy, and the NFL. He gets his favorable matchup this week, against the Eagles, which have allowed an average of 27.2 fantasy PPG to opposing receivers this season, which ranks 30th in the NFL. Don’t even think about sitting Benjamin this week.

Wide Receivers Start ‘Em: Percy Harvin vs. Pittsburgh

Projected Fantasy Points: 11

A lot of people thought that Harvin would actually do worse after his trade to the Jets; however, he has done better. In his first two games with the Jets, Harvin has by far become the main piece of the New York offense, and has accumulated 22 targets in his first two games, including an 11-catch 129-yard performance last week. Although the Steelers have been solid against receivers, I don’t think you can afford to sit a receiver that is granted to get at least 10 targets on Sunday.

Wide Receivers Sit ‘Em: Michael Floyd vs. St. Louis

Projected Fantasy Points: 4

Floyd has been a major disappointment this season, in a year that I expected to him to be a breakout player. He had no catches two weeks ago against Philadelphia, and last week had just 36 yards. Cardinals’ coach Bruce Arians has already said that the team is having Carson Palmer spread the ball around, which could be hurting Floyd’s production. He has a good matchup against the Rams, but if the Cardinals continue to spread the ball around, like they seem, Floyd is a very risky fantasy play. And in a week that you need to win, I don’t trust him.

Tight Ends Start ‘Em: Owen Daniels vs. Tennessee

Projected Fantasy Points: 8

Daniels returned from his one-week absence last week, and he played fairly well. He caught 6 of his 9 targets for 53 yards in the game. On Sunday, he faces off against the Titans, which rank 21st against opposing tight ends in fantasy this season. Daniels has become one of the favorite targets of Joe Flacco, and Daniels is also a major threat in the red-zone. The tight end position is very thin in fantasy; thus I don’t advise you to sit Owen Daniels.

Tight Ends Sit ‘Em: Vernon Davis at New Orleans

Projected Fantasy Points: 2

Wow, I would never guess in a million years that I would ever advise you to sit Davis. However, that’s the case this week. Davis has been a major disappointment in fantasy this season, as he hasn’t reached over 3 points since Week 1. Davis shouldn’t end that streak against the Saints, which have allowed an average of just 3.8 fantasy PPG to opposing tight ends this season. Unfortunately, Davis’ time as a fantasy stud has come to an end. Not only should he be sat, but he should also be cut.

Defense/Special Teams Start ‘Em: Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia

Projected Fantasy Points: 10

What? This must be a joke. No, it’s not. The Panthers’ defense has played very well the last two weeks, having 11 points against a powerful Seahawks’ offense, and 8 against another powerful offense, the Saints. I for one, am not a believer in Mark Sanchez, who the Panthers face this week, and I think he is good for at least 2 turnovers in this game. Thus, the Panthers’ D, which also provides sacks, makes a good play on Monday night.

Defense/Special Teams Sit ‘Em: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo

Projected Fantasy Points 5

Everyone looks at this matchup for some reason, and still doesn’t believe in the Bills’ offense. Since Kyle Orton has taken over at QB for the Bills, their offense has been extremely high scoring with weapons like Sammy Watkins being used properly. Also, Bills’ RB Fred Jackson is expected to return this week, as well. There offense can put up points, especially at home, and the Chiefs’ D has been kind of weak on the road. There are certainly better options at DST than Kansas City this week.

I hope everybody enjoyed this Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em, and I’ll be back next week! Follow me on Twitter: @Nadelman99 for Fantasy talk, advice, or any questions you may have. Feedback on my articles is always appreciated.
