Week 13 Sleepers to Consider

With the NFL bye weeks finished for this season, the need for players that are flying under the radar has diminished  a bit. However, many of our rosters are suffering from injuries and plain old under performance. I’m going to hone in on four Week 13 sleepers that I feel can be game changers this week for owners pushing to make the playoffs.

But before we do, let’s see how my picks did last week.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been a pleasant surprise for the Titans and for owners that have been starting him. Last week against the Raiders, he had another good game with 320 passing yards, two TDs and no picks.

Running back Andre Ellington is getting his fair share of carries for the Cardinals, but splitting time with Rashard Mendenhall continues to hamstring his ability to have a big game. Last week, Ellington got a little over 9 points for owners in PPR leagues.

I’m done picking players from the Texans. They are awful. By the way, Keshawn Martin got me one catch for 12 yards last week. I think it is safe to say the that Johnny Manziel watch has begun in Houston.

The Titans won a close one against the Raiders last week and TE Delanie Walker had a decent game with five catches for 46 yards. Keep your eye on Walker for the rest of the year. He’s going to have at least one more big game.

Week 13 Sleepers

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Titans

I have to go back to the well here and pick Fitzpatrick again. He’s having a great year in relief of Jake Locker, he’s got good weapons with Kendall Wright, Walker, and Chris Johnson, and he’s about to face an Indianapolis Colts team that doesn’t know which way is up.

If you’re still standing pat with the likes of Andrew Luck or Eli Manning as your starters, you might grab the Tennessee QB. He’s probably sitting there available on the waiver wire.

Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, Browns

Cleveland is facing a Jacksonville team that can give up yards in a hurry. Although he splits time with Fozzy Whittaker, Ogbonnaya is usually good for around 5 catches per game and 30-40 yards rushing. If he can hit paydirt this weekend, he  could be a 20-point player in a PPR league.

Rod Streater, WR, Raiders

In the past two weeks, Matt McGloin has targeted Streater 18 times. He has accumulated 11 catches for 177 yards and a touchdown in those two weeks. If Denarius Moore remains sidelined for the Raiders, Streater becomes a very solid option.

If you’ve been waiting for one of your WRs to perform and he hasn’t lately, like an Aaron Dobson, Streater could help jump start your lineup this weekend. Unless you play in a very deep league, he’s almost certainly available.

Jacob Tamme, TE, Broncos

Tamme is a total crapshoot because his appeal is strictly based on the health of Julius Thomas. Right now it looks like a 50/50 chance that he will play. Tamme looked good Sunday night filling in for Thomas.

Pick up Tamme if you have room on your roster and wait and see if Thomas is active. I’m sure you have several players that have been collecting dust and it won’t kill you to take up a roster spot with a guy you may not play.
