Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds

jason.snelling.dg

The Bye Week bonanza begins now, which makes your waiver wire surfing all the more important and potentially rewarding.

Keep your eyes peeled for potential improvements that others are dropping, or plan your own lineup complications a week in advance to avoid over spending, or potentially losing out. But ultimately, make your moves count. If an owner drops Cam Newton this week, add him, but the case might not be so easy to make for a Jermichael Finley.

There were a a few who emerged this week, so, here are your top Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds.

Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds

RB Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins

Daniel Thomas isn’t going away. Miami appears committed to giving him Goal Line opportunities and as long as their offense is moving the ball, they’ll be there for him. Only Adrian Peterson and Joique Bell have more Rushing Touchdowns than Thomas.
It isn’t ideal and you shouldn’t expect a lot, but Running Back Touchdowns are harder and harder to come by these days. With Bye Weeks approaching Thomas should see his ownership percentage rise.

RB Bilal Powell, New York Jets

There once was a committee in the Jets’ backfield. Powell may be an inferior talent to Chris Ivory, but Ivory cannot stay on the field and Powell is the superior Fantasy Running Back thus far. Ivory’s hamstring pull has opened the door even further for Powell.
The Jets’ Running Back should see 25 touches a game going forward. So the opportunity is there and in Fantasy Football, opportunity is sometimes more important than talent.

RB Jason Snelling, Atlanta Falcons

Snelling may be on the short end of a time split and Steven Jackson’s return looms, but in the meantime there is value. Snelling scored Sunday and broke big plays on the ground and through the air. Jacquizz Rodgers isn’t as well suited for Red Zone work either.
It may be short lived, but Snelling might be a good Bye Week plug in over the next month. The Falcons will give him chances to score.

WR Ryan Broyles, Detroit Lions

Nate Burleson will have surgery after a single car accident, which opens the door wide open for Mr. Ryan Broyles. It is no secret that the Lions throw the football a little bit and now Broyles will have a major role.
Expectations were high for Broyles this summer and the potential is there for a monster stretch if he can take the job and run with it. He could be a force in that lineup.

WR Santonio Holmes, New York Jets

Much of Holmes’ Fantasy upside is tied to a weak offense and rookie Quarterback Geno Smith, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a low-end starter through Bye Weeks. Holmes posted huge numbers Sunday.
He should be the 1st option in the passing game and the Jets don’t look as horrific as projected out of the gate. Don’t get too carried away, but he shouldn’t be unowned either.

WR Donnie Avery, Kansas City Chiefs

It was a large performance on Thursday night and Avery showed off his speed, but this is still the same guy we waited to see breakout in Indianapolis last year. He’ll see all kinds of targets again opposite the superior Dwayne Bowe.
Avery looked beastly on cross routes and used his speed to gain big chunks, but Smith rarely goes down the field so his big play potential is limited. He is worth a target on the wire.

WR Brandon LeFell, Carolina Panthers

The Black Cat was nearly off the radar entering the season and did little off the get. However, his Week 3 performance is intriguing and might increase Cam Newton’s confidence in him. The Panthers sit out this week, so LaFell could be on the cheap in comparison to others.

He is clearly behind Steve Smith and Greg Olsen in the passing game, but the Panthers will play in enough shootouts in the NFC South that he’ll have some relevancy going forward.

Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds – Bye-Week Quarterback Replacements

Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs: Gets the Giants at home and although you cannot expect bundles of points, Smith will post a few. His defense could also put him in a few favorable positions for quick scores.

Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins: The Saints have tightened up their defense, but Tannehill will need to air it out to stay in this game. He is receiving a lot of praise and should be able to post a nice Fantasy line.

Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds – Bye-Week Tight End Replacements

Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers could use a little Miller Time and if you need Tight End Fantasy help, it wouldn’t be a bad reach. He’ll see more targets against the Vikings this week.

Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills: Coming off his best game and going against a Ravens’ defense that has been beat by the Tight End all year could make Chandler a solid plug and play.

IDP Waiver Wire – Rapid Fire

DL Lamarr Houston, Oakland Raiders: He has a couple sacks, 13 total tackles and looks quick off the edge.

DL Adrian Clayborn, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Back-to-back big games for the 2011 first rounder.

DL Jason Hatcher, Dallas Cowboys: 3 games and 3 sacks, add a few tackles and Hatcher has been solid.

LB Daryl Smith, Baltimore Ravens: He is filling Ray Lewis’ shoes quite nicely and Fantasy folk should take note.

LB Mychal Kendricks, Philadelphia Eagles: Fast in space and his tackle totals prove it.

LB Jerrell Freeman, Indianapolis Colts: Sacks, tackles, forced fumbles. Freeman is contributing across the board.

DB Alterraun Verner, Tennessee Titans: Has been off to a great start with the big plays, hope the tackles follow.

DB Reshad Jones, Miami Dolphins: The Saints should boost his already impressive numbers in Week 4.

DB Major Wright, Chicago Bears: The tackles are solid, while the big plays are just huge bonuses.
