Week 7 TE Rankings — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE – New Respect For Tight Ends

Week 7 TE Rankings

Sometimes in the middle of the Fantasy season, I like to look back to see which tight ends have popped up out of nowhere to find themselves relevant in our game. These Week 7 TE rankings will have several players that we didn’t care about this past summer.

But now, whether it’s due to injury or effort, they are owned in plenty of Fantasy leagues, and some of them might have even scored against us in a Fantasy game or two.

So if some of these players are going up in the rankings, that also means someone is going down. It’s this second group of players that affects us more, since we were invested for the first few weeks.

And then there’s guys like Rob Gronkowski, who continues to score points, but has only started to look Gronk-like – which is pretty scary.

4 Fantasy Tight Ends We Now Respect

Delanie Walker actually got a lot of respect from some Fantasy writers – I just wasn’t one of them. Oh, how I was wrong! At the age of 30, he ranks fifth in Fantasy scoring at his position, and he actually leads the position in receiving yards, with 421. The hiring of Ken Whisenhunt as the Titans’ head coach has been a great thing for Walker’s production.

Week 6 DST Rankings - Fan vs Machine CashDwayne Allen blew out his knee last season, and with so many choices at this position this summer, he was pushed back into the fantasy backups group, with guys like Jared Cook, Eric Ebron and Charles Clay. But his 14.1 yards per carry, and the fact he has Andrew Luck at quarterback, has him among the top Fantasy tight ends.

Larry Donnell sat himself a couple weeks ago in his Fantasy league in order to play Vernon Davis – and then he went and scored three touchdowns. With Victor Cruz (knee) out for the year, and Ben McAdoo’s offense beginning to take form, Donnell should continue his scoring ways.

Travis Kelce was a late-summer fan favorite, and I picked him up in several leagues – especially a few keeper leagues. At just 25 years old, only Allen and Zach Ertz are younger than him among the top 15 Fantasy tight ends. Kelce has three touchdowns in his past three games!

Defenses vs. Tight Ends in 2014

We like to use the “Defenses vs. Pos” stats from CBSSports.com. Basically, this tool tells you the average points per position a defense gives up.

The five softest defenses against tight ends this year include:

  • Cowboys: 12.67 Fantasy pts allowed to TEs per game
  • Bengals: 12.60
  • Seahawks: 12.40
  • Jaguars: 12.00
  • Jets: 11.00
