Week 9 Discount Diving with FanDuel Cheat Sheet and Rankings

Playoffs are on the horizon for seasonal owners, but for those of us who play Daily Fantasy Football it is another week to go discount diving and try to make some moolah! As you have to do when you write posts like this you have to look at the calls in your previous week and see how you did. Well, we can say the calls were not very good, especially with Michael Floyd and his zero which will live in infamy. If you utilized my sample lineup you may have still cashed out thanks to the Miami defense, Jeremy Maclin and Carson Palmer

It was such a high scoring week that if you played in tournaments, or even some 50/50’s you may have missed out on money, thanks to Floyd. Either way, I ended up cashing out in all but two tournaments and hope you found a way to make money too. It also gets to the point of this post where I am primarily trying to give you a value pick for each position every week. The sample lineup shows what sort of players you can build around your discounts. You likely shouldn’t play every single player I name but perhaps a couple for penny-pinching those lineups each week.

The most hyped game this week will be New England versus Denver, and with two of the best quarterbacks in the league going head to head it fits the bill. However, there are reports of extreme cold, and icky weather flowing in. History shows that Peyton Manning doesn’t always play well in extreme conditions (Does anyone though?) so keep that in mind if you were hoping to stack players from this game.

This week I am going to roll with the cardinal rule by many DFS experts and stack a quarterback and receiver in my lineups. It seems to work, and hoping a few discount players being mixed in will allow me to do so. Keep an eye on injuries and value too. With the news yesterday of Giovani Bernard missing this week Jeremy Hill is now an easy discount target and should produce like a top 12 back.

Finally, I will be adding my Rankings from Fantasy Pros each week. I may eventually get to having separate posts, but for now and time constraints we will add them in for additional help. As always feel free to comment, question away, and send me notes on Twitter! Thanks for reading and good luck this week everyone.

Week 9: FanDuel Discount Diving

Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill, Miami vs San Diego

He may not be “cheap” so to speak, but his cost should easily match his output this week against San Diego. Until last week he was putting up 25 plus points in standard scoring for three weeks straight. He also has been accumulating some rushing yards which always helps boost a quarterbacks weekly totals. Projected Fanduel Points: 16.6

Running Back: Jeremy Hill, Cincinatti vs Jacksonville

Here we go again to take advantage of Jacksonville’s shoddy defense. Sadly for Gio Bernard owners in seasonal leagues he will not play this week. However, Daily gamers rejoice because they now have a legitimate RB1 for dirt cheap on FanDuel! This is a perfect combination, and at his cost of a piddly $5,200 he will allow to load up at the other Running Back spot with an elite back. Projected FanDuel Points: 12.6

Wide Receiver: Rueben Randle, New York Giants vs Indianapolis

He is a lock for 4 targets, and is a fantasy darling to many in the industry. I am not a huge fan and think he gets over-hyped on potential alone. HOWEVER, this week he fits the bill as a discount and could produce against Indianapolis without their best cornerback in Week 9. If he can get 4 catches, 60 yards and come up with a touchdown you will love him as your #3 receiver this week. He comes in at $6,400 this week. Projected FanDuel Points: 11.5

Tight End: Jared Cook, Saint Louis at San Francisco

Tight End has been a tough position to stream or find great values in from week to week. This week, I am going with Mr. Cook. He is going up against a solid defense against Tight Ends, and they don’t have a great offense, but I am hoping volume alone or perhaps a defensive turnover from the Rams could lead to an easy Red Zone target this week. Costing $4,900 this makes him worth the risk and discount dive.

The Final Lineup (Well…..One of Them)

Chillpony’s Week 9 Rankings

Finally, here are my positional rankings for Week 9 if you have any other tough lineup decisions, or to help find some other value plays in your Daily lineups this week. I will also say in three drafts on SKYLLZONE.com this week (You have to try it) Jeremy Hill has been going as early as pick 17! Make note for your Fan vs. Machine drafts. Those pesky robots can’t be tricked.
