Week 9 Sleepers to Consider

With six teams on bye weeks last weekend, and six teams on byes this week, many owners are looking for some Week 9 sleepers. Last week, many owners scraped the bottom of the barrel to fill their rosters.

How did you do if you took my advice? Same as usual — about half and half.

Eli Manning had his best game of the year. By that I mean he didn’t throw four picks. But 246 yards isn’t horrible. Hey Eli, how about mixing in a TD here and there?

The Denver Broncos did feature two backs on Sunday, like I said they would. Too bad Ronnie Hillman wasn’t one of the them.

The Patriots managed to get a win without a great effort from Tom Brady. The ground game was there for New England and so was my pick Brandon Bolden who had a TD, 22 yards rushing and a couple of catches.

Somehow, I continue to pick the “one-hit wonders” — Leonard Hankerson managed to score, but it was his only catch.

Did Rueben Randle  even step on the field for the Giants Sunday? All I know is he was wearing a horse collar when the game was over.

The Packers continue to keep rolling with half their receiving corps injured. Jermichael Finley’s replacement Andrew Quarless had a couple of catches for 13 yards. Not exactly stellar.

Time to fill in those empty roster spots with this week’s picks…

Week 9 Sleepers

Luke McCown QB, Bears

Why am I high on a backup QB like McCown? Because he’s facing the Packers.

Green Bay has not exactly stopped fantasy QBs in their tracks this year. Try McCown if your guy is on the bench.

Daryl Richardson, RB, Rams

Richardson has fallen out of favor with St. Louis in recent weeks. But Zac Stacy limped off the field at the end of the game last week.

Richardson should see more work this weekend. Grab him if you’re in need of a flex player or RB.

Rod Streater WR, Raiders

Oakland plays the Eagles this week and they simply do not defend the pass very well. Even Terrelle Pryor can have a good game through the air against Philadelphia, so consider him one of my Week 9 sleepers, too.

Streater has been been getting more and more targets as the year has progressed. Look for him to have a nice game.

Dexter McCluster WR, Chiefs

The Buffalo Bills have been very poor at stopping receivers this year and the Chiefs have several guys that can burn you.

I’ve picked McCluster before and he let me down, but he has been utilized a fair amount lately and is a good flex player this week.

Martellus Bennett TE, Bears

Bennett has been a little gimpy here of late but he just enjoyed a bye week to sit back and relax. The Packers really struggle against TE play.

It’s up to the Bears to keep Josh McCown upright so he can get Bennett the ball.
