Everybody Wins with ‘Fantasy Cares’ Program

It’s time to put our Fantasy money where our heart is with the Fantasy Cares program.

My buddies over at RotoExperts.com partnered up last month with a company called Snoball, to create a program called, “Fantasy Cares,” which raises money for select non-profit organizations. What does that mean to you? It means you can play some Fantasy Football and do some good for some needy charities. And the interesting part about this is – the better you do, the more that gets donated!

Fantasy Sports, for the most part, is a narcissistic exercise already. Consider that playing Fantasy Football or Fantasy Baseball is you trying to prove to everyone else that you know more about that sport than your counterparts. Well now, you can feel better about trying to be more awesome than everyone else!

Who Does “Fantasy Cares” Help?

For the rest of the 2012 NFL season, people that play on RotoExperts’ Fantasy Football game will create charitable donations that will go to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, which provides medical, dental and financial assistance to retired NFL players in need.

Is there a better way to thank the NFL players that gave us great memories over the past few decades than to try to use your Fantasy Football prowess to get them some much-needed medical care.

It seems like every week we’re hearing stories about how the NFL is slacking on helping former NFL players that are down on their luck or having some medical difficulties due to their years on the gridiron.

What Can You Win – Besides a Larger Heart!?!

The other great part to this whole setup  is that participants are also able to win some pretty cool prizes, like a signed football from Super Bowl  XLV. I love to collect sports memorabilia, and this signed football will have a ton of great NFL signatures, including Mike Ditka, Barry Sanders and Steve Largent, among 20 or so others. You’ll also get a chance to win some autographed merchandise and game tickets.

Another cool prize includes a chance to talk about their picks on Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio, which you can hear every morning, starting at 6am.

There will also be new prizes each week, so make sure to play regularly.

How Can You Sign Up?

When you go to RotoExperts’ Fantasy Cares page, you can sign up through Facebook or Snoball. (I chose Facebook, just so my participation might persuade someone else to also play, and help out others.) You’ll then create an account quickly, sign in with a credit card for your pledges, and set the weekly amount you’d like to donate for each PPR point your roster scores. (If you set your pledge for $0.10 per PPR point, and your team scores 100 PPR points, then you’ll make a $5.00 donation to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund!

Then you’ll set your Fantasy Football roster and try to score the most points that week! The top winners get some great prizes, and join a great cause in the meantime.

Finally, our Fantasy Football prowess can be used for good, rather than evil – as we try to destroy the psyches of all of our Fantasy opponents!
