Week 11 Sleepers to Consider

With a week off to refresh my creative juices (Thank you, Mr. Gonos), I look forward to providing you with some great Week 11 sleepers.

Hopefully, last week, some of you had the foresight to start a player like  Tavon Austin. I have to admit, I didn’t see that coming. Not against the Colts.

Brian Hartline would have also been a solid play last week, if you were hurting for wide receivers. I guess what I am saying is that I hope your team survived without me. I’m sure it did.

Injuries are really starting to mount in the NFL, and replacement players that no one has ever heard of are often great pickups. Let’s see who I like this week.

Week 11 Sleepers

 

Josh McCown, QB, Chicago

I am going back to the well on this one. Have you seen Josh McCown play this year? He’s looked better than a healthy Jay Cutler.

McCown is facing a Ravens defense that isn’t what it used to be, but still plays the run well. Look for Matt Forte to get held in check and for the Bears to have to air it out.

Oh by the way, don’t be surprised if the Bears stay with McCown, if they get a win this weekend.

Brian Leonard, RB, Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay has ridden the wheels off of Doug Martin this year and have had to put him on the shelf. Michael James is shut down, too. So who do the Bucs turn to?

Brian Leonard had 20 carries on Monday night. Who the heck is Leonard? He’s the new starting running back for Tampa Bay.

I’m sure Tampa will sign a player somewhere along the line to add depth, but Leonard is going to be the man, at least for this week.

Jerricho Cotchery, WR, Pittsburgh

I’ve tried to stay away from Cotchery the last few weeks, but now I can’t. The Lions give up a lot of points to wide receivers and Ben Roethlisberger is starting to look a little better.

For crying out loud, Cotchery leads the team in TDs. I know half of those came against the Patriots, but this week’s game against Lions could be another track meet and he could catch another three touchdowns.

Kenny Stills, WR, New Orleans

I have a personal stake in Stills because he’s on my roster. I have yet to put him out there, but this is the week to do it.

I don’t care how good the 49ers defense is, when Drew Brees plays at home, he absolutely lights it up. Look for Stills to have at least one long touchdown in the Superdome again this weekend.

John Carlson, TE, Minnesota

Let’s face it, we’re thin at tight end this year in the NFL. The Vikings had a good one in Kyle Rudolph, but he’s out.

In steps Carlson last weekend. All he does is catch seven passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Will he have a game like that this weekend against Seattle? Probably not. But he will get you at least five catches for 50 yards, and that’s way better production than I’ve been seeing from my TEs this year.
