Week 6 WR Rankings — Sponsored by SKYLLZONE

The biggest news for the Week 6 WR rankings came midweek, when A.J. Green re-injured his toe in practice and had to be carted off the field for the Bengals.

Cincinnati was already missing Tyler Eifert (elbow) and Marvin Jones (ankle), so Mohamed Sanu suddenly appears to be a player that’s going to see a lot of action on Sunday. Jones could still play, but things don’t look good for Andy Dalton and Co.

I thought for this week, we’d do a quick look at some of the interesting stats at the wide receivers position through basically the first third of the season.

Numbers to Note for Wide Receivers

82 – Fantasy points scored by Antonio Brown to lead the position so far, but Jordy Nelson (76) and Julio Jones (73) are right on his back. Brown has eight “Big Plays,” which means receptions for 25 yards or more. The next best player is Alshon Jeffery, with five big plays.

4 – Touchdown catches made by Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin, which has him tied for fourth-most among WRs. We were all excited to see Nick Foles in his second season in Chip Kelly’s offense, but Maclin was essentially looked at as a low-end WR2 coming into the season, mostly because of his torn ACL last year, and the absence of DeSean Jackson on the other side. He has benefited those that took a chance on him.

463 – Receiving yards for Steve Smith, who became the much more important “Smith” on the Ravens, leaving Torrey Smith in the dust.

5 – Victor Cruz’s dropped passes already this season. Nothing new here, but he’s dropping over 13 percent of his passes.

50 – T.Y. Hilton’s targets after the first five games, which ranks him fifth in the league. Reggie Wayne isn’t too far behind, with 45 targets, and these guys are just riding high on Andrew Luck’s wave this season.

12 – Catches by Michael Floyd for Arizona through four games. What a huge disappointment in the year we thought he climb into the top-15 at the position.

78 – Percent of targets thrown to rookie WR Brandin Cooks that he ends up catching, which ranks among the best at the position – for rookies and veterans. Marques Colston (51.7%) and Kenny Stills (66.7%)are behind him, even though they have the same quarterback throwing to them.
