Ranking the Top 8 2026-27 Topps Basketball Rookie Cards

These are predictions of their appeal over time, but remember that the specific card, its parallels, rarity, condition and purchase price will also help shape its value.

1. A.J. Dybantsa, SF, Washington Wizards (Age 19)

The BYU product leads our list because of his potential to become a franchise-defining scorer. At BYU, Dybantsa averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists, shooting 51.0% from the field. His combination of size, scoring ability and developing playmaking gives him several ways to influence an offense.

Washington surrounds Dybantsa with experienced help in Trae Young and Anthony Davis. Young’s passing should create opportunities for him to finish possessions without having to manufacture every shot himself, although sharing the offense could limit his early scoring totals.

For collectors, Dybantsa combines No. 1 pick recognition with the possibility of becoming Washington’s signature star for the next decade. That earns him our top spot – but don’t think that the decisions was easy!

2. Darryn Peterson, PG/SG, Utah Jazz (Age 19)

Peterson offers a compelling combination of perimeter shooting and individual scoring ability. He averaged over 20 points at Kansas, setting the program’s freshman scoring-average record, and shot over 38% from three-point range. He’s an intriguing prospect as both an on-ball scorer and a player who can capitalize from the outside on opportunities created by teammates.

Utah places Peterson alongside Keyonte George, giving the Jazz a young backcourt with considerable offensive potential. His long-term appeal rests on developing from a dangerous scorer into a player who can consistently lead an NBA offense. That possibility makes him Dybantsa’s closest challenger in our ranking.

3. Cameron Boozer, PF, Memphis Grizzlies (Age 19)

The son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, Cameron brings one of the most complete offensive résumés to this rookie class. The former Duke standout averaged 22 and 10 in college, and earning AP National Player of the Year honors. His strength and interior scoring draw attention, but it’s his ability to pass and shoot from the outside that make him particularly interesting.

With a rebuild in full effect in Memphis, the Grizzlies expect Boozer to play a significant role and he’ll hone his skills both in the paint and away from the basket. That gives him an attractive opportunity to contribute early while expanding his game. His Duke background, family connection to a former all-star, a twin brother still playing back at Duke, and substantial production provide several attractive bulletpoints for collectors.

Boozer already became the third-youngest player in NBA history to register at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a game against Golden State early this season, joining LeBron James and Cooper Flagg.

4. Caleb Wilson, PF, Chicago Bulls (Age 20)

Wilson’s appeal starts with his ability to contribute across the floor. At North Carolina, his athleticism, finishing ability and defensive activity give him a foundation to build on while his perimeter offense develops. He already showed that he could carry substantial responsibility, leading the Tar Heels in scoring and rebounding as a freshman.

Chicago is building around Wilson, Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis, giving him a place in the franchise’s developing core. The attraction for cardboard collectors is that Wilson is good now – with room to grow — and a chance to become a major figure for the Bulls. Some have even mentioned Kevin Garnett comps with this fella.

Wilson had 30 points and 14 rebounds against the Wizards in late October. He’s the first player to record a 30-point, 10-rebound game within the first three games of his career since Lamar Odom in 1999!

5. Darius Acuff Jr., PG, Sacramento Kings (Age 19)

The Arkansas product has the scoring and playmaking credentials to become one of this class’s most entertaining players. In college, he averaged 23.5 points and 6.4 assists, shooting 44% from three-point range, three numbers card collectors love to see out of prospects. He can score from deep and help others score, too.

Sacramento offers a promising setting for those skills, with Acuff projected to take on starting point guard responsibilities. A substantial role would give him opportunities to score, which attracts collectors, and helps us rank him among the best 2026-27 Topps Basketball rookie cards.

6. Keaton Wagler, PG/SG, L.A. Clippers (Age 19)

Keaton Wagler combines shooting with the ability to keep an offense moving. A balanced player, able to help in several ways, gives him many potential routes to NBA success.

The Clippers see Wagler as a promising backcourt partner for Darius Garland. His rookie-card appeal comes from that combination of useful skills and developmental upside.

7. Mikel Brown Jr., PG, Brooklyn Nets (Age 20)

The former Louisville star brings explosive scoring potential to Brooklyn. He scored 45 point against NC State, demonstrating how dangerous he can become when his shot is falling.

Brown joins a Nets roster with several young guards, so his offensive role will depend on how he can distinguish himself. Thankfully, it’s the Nets, which means they can afford to experiment with their rotation without worry about playoff seeding.

His rookie cards offer an intriguing way to collect a prospect whose best performances suggest substantial upside, particularly if he develops into Brooklyn’s primary perimeter creator.

8. Yaxel Lendeborg, SF/PF, Golden State Warriors (Age 24)

The American-Dominican forward brings versatility, an accomplished college background, and a little fire to Golden State. After helping Michigan win the national championship and earning Big Ten Player of the Year honors. He showing the ability to contribute as a scorer, rebounder and passer, but it was his opening night battle with NBA superstar Luka Doncic that has Warriors fans (and card collectors alike) excited about his appeal.

Lendeborg enters the NBA with more experience than the younger prospects above him, so his age does push him down our list a bit. Golden State’s rotation needs could give him an opportunity to contribute immediately, making him an appealing rookie to follow and playing alongside Steph Curry should get him some TV time. An effective all-around rookie season could make him a fan favorite quickly.
