Eric Mack is writing his start/sit column for BleacherReport.com, and I’m writing the Week 1 Start or Sit column for SI.com this season. We both discuss ,with host Brett Tresky, each of the upcoming Week 1 NFL matchups from a Fantasy perspective.
Emack and Tresky also share their pick for the best survivor pick for those that play.
This is going to be the setup for the next 17 weeks, as we try to help Fantasy Football owners fill out the very best weekly lineups.
I also posted my Week 1 rankings on SI.com, where it’s fed into a staff consensus ranking, and I’ll link to those pages once they’re posted.
Week 1 NFL Matchups
The first game on the schedule is Thursday night’s Baltimore at Denver rematch, but this Ravens team is a much different squad defensively than one year ago.
And one of the games that Emack loves the most, from a Fantasy perspective, is the Patriots/Bills game on Sunday. He picks the Patriots defense as one of the best plays of the week, and he names them as one of his sleeper DSTs for the rest of the season.
Emack and I have a few minor disagreements on players you should start or sit. Specifically, I’m not a fan of Russell Wilson this week against the Panthers. As I mention in the podcast, it’s not so much a condemnation of what I think he can do, as much as I just like a lot of other quarterbacks better. Since Wilson was likely picked as a 10th or worse Fantasy QB, many will have a pretty good backup as a secondary option. For instance, I like the Pennsylvania guys a little better –- Philadelphia’s Michael Vick and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.
