Wednesday Wager: Cowboys vs Giants

Welcome to the ProFootballMatchups.com breakdown of the Cowboys vs Giants game to kickoff the regular season for the NFL!

The Cowboys are looking to make it back into the playoffs after missing out the last two seasons. The defense was a major disappointment in 2011, allowing 343.2 yards per game, with 244.1 of those yards coming through the air. The Cowboys addressed their poor pass defense by signing former Chiefs CB Brandon Carr and drafted LSU stud CB Morris Claiborne in the first round of the draft. The offense averaged 375.5 yards and 23.1 points per game and should continue to perform at a high level if they can avoid injuries to their key players.

The Giants are looking for their third straight victory against the Cowboys after sweeping them in 2011. The Super Bowl Champs had one of the worst defenses statistically in 2011 allowing 376.4 yards per game with 121.2 yards coming via the ground. The Giants featured an explosive offense in 2011 which averaged 385.1 yards per game, with 295.9 yards coming through the air.

The Cowboys are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games against the NFC East and the under is 5-1 in their last 6 road games.  The Giants are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games in September and are 5-1 in their last 6 home games.
