Week 10 TE Rankings

The Week 10 TE rankings are going to be without Fantasy Football studs like Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Gates, along with steady Dwayne Allen and oft-injured-but-talented Jordan Reed.

So I thought I’d take a quick look back before we take a short look forward.

Rather than just churn out the rankings each week, I usually like to give a short narrative that furthers along some discussion about the position.

Since we’re finished with nine weeks of the Fantasy season, it should be interesting to see what the total Fantasy point among tight ends looks like compared to the points over the past four weeks. (I figure three weeks is too short because of bye weeks, and five weeks is over half the season so far.)

10 Hottest Tight Ends

Looking at the past four weeks compared to the entire season, we can get a better idea of which tight ends are shooting up the rankings, deserving of more Fantasy love in the coming weeks.

  1. Rob Gronkowski, NE: 12.70 FPPG for the season-16.40 FPPG past 4 weeks = 3.70 diff
  2. Gavin Escobar, DAL: 2.94-6.18 = 3.23
  3. Scott Chandler, BUF: 4.38-7.10 = 2.73
  4. Mychal Rivera, OAK: 4.28-2.20 = 2.20
  5. Charles Clay, MIA: 4.88-2.10 = 2.10
  6. Jason Witten, DAL: 5.76-1.82 = 1.82
  7. Jordan Cameron, CLE: 5.17-1.73 = 1.73
  8. Jermaine Gresham, CIN: 3.09-1.56 = 1.56
  9. Jace Amaro, N.Y. Jets: 3.83-1.19 = 1.19
  10. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TB: 3.80-1.10 = 1.10

Some players got obvious boosts from singular big games, like Rivera and Escobar, but it’s great to see the rise in production from Charles Clay, Scott Chandler and Jermaine Gresham.

Week 10 TE Rankings - SKYLLZONE Fan vs MachineFor Chandler, the change from E.J. Manuel to Kyle Orton has certainly made a difference. Gresham, however, no doubt performed better because the team was missing A.J. Green due to a foot injury.

It’s also important to note the increased production from the rookies, too. Both Amaro and Seferian-Jenkins are getting more chances and taking advantage of them.

Defenses vs. Tight Ends in 2014

We like to use the “Defenses vs. Pos” stats from CBSSports.com. Basically, this tool tells you the average points per position a defense gives up.

The five softest defenses against tight ends this year include:

  • Bears: 13.25 Fantasy pts allowed to TEs per game
